An Origin

The plan for this site is to create a modern web archive revolving around Mount Monadnock. In it I hope to create a repository of maps, historical images and other artifacts. For more modern works still under copyright, the intent will be to catalog them for awareness. I want this to be a great resource for any visitor hoping to learn more about the history and culture of the mountain.
In the initial launch of this site I will just have the map archive active. I’ve collected a lot of old historic photographs as well but want to come up with a better way of cataloging them. There is also the bothersome issue of “ownership”, which is difficult to assess as I’ve collected many of these at random intervals over the past decade.
If time permits, I hope also to write a series of posts that delve into the old maps and books. Some part of this goal would be to determine what other historical artifacts are still out there to be found - another would just to be to summarize and speculate what we can only now guess.
This website was built using Hugo, a static site generator. I’m still learning the ropes with this platform, but once I’m more confident in the site design I will likely move the site’s source files to a GitHub project to enable collaboration on the archive.
